i drank this as part of my work wine tasting group. this wine is normally about 80% sangiovese and 20% cabernet sauvignon. this was the second time i drank it. it was opened and decanted about 1 1/2 hours prior to drinking. this was about $55-56 on release.

dark ruby purple. thick slow moving legs. explosive nose of black currants, mineral and toast. huge concentrated full bodied black fruit flavors that are just beginning to open up. excellent balance and sweet tannins. this wine should hit its peak in about 4-5 years when it really begins to open up and develops secondary flavors. me94+

I have one bottle, which my baby sister, (Who must love me very much) gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago. I am saving it for a few more and will have it with her.

Enjoyed last evening with friends:

This blend of 80% Sangiovese/20% Cabernet sits a dark dense purple in the glass without any fading or bricking. On the nose, this displays some rustic, musty notes along with dense and deep soft red fruits – plums and cherries, and berries. Built to last, this wine is still drinking quite young, with vibrant acidity, firm but elegant tannins, and plenty of deep complex fruit to carry it through. 93 points, drink 2005-2010.

So, I have I think a 99 or 00 of this. Anyone have any thoughts on when the best time would be to open? Any recent notes on the 99 or 00?

Brent brought this to Larry's for the HDW offline. Dark ruby colour. Aromas of black licorice, black cherry, earth, and black fruits. Medium-full bodied with black plums and blackberries. Moderate-long finish, ~40-45s with blackberry and blueberry notes. Still very youthful and will reward patience. 93 points (08/05/2004).

Medium ruby/ruddy colour. Aromas of cherry, cinnamon, blackberry, peach, and raspberry. Medium-bodied, with blackberry, cherry, vanilla, and spices. Moderate finish with black fruit notes. Needs time to open up. (90 pts.)
