| In keeping with a recently developed interest in the wines of the Loire Valley, today I had...
2002 Chateau de Sancerre Sancerre (375 ml) -- this wine is from another successful Marnier-Lapostolle estate. Shows a lovely pale gold color with tinges of green; nice nose of melon with faint hints of honey, very fresh and clean; melon, mineral, mild citrus flavors, a slight earthiness, and a surprisingly long finish (which I think may be attributed to the vintage). Textbook Loire Sauvignon Blanc. App. 87-8 pts.
My wife and I shared a half bottle of this with a mushroom omelette about an hour ago in a restaurant. This is an almost perfect luncheon wine, IMHO. | | | |
