| 1999 Albert Mann Tokay Pinot Gris Furstentum -- big floral, melon nose; full-bodied, rich, creamy mouthfeel with pear, honey, Mandarin orange, melon, smoky, almond flavors; excellent acidity to balance the ripe, sweet fruit; long, almost-chewy finish. Everyone wanted more of this. App. 91-2 pts. A terrific wine at a fair price. The 2000 is at least as good as this vintage, and currently available.
Served with Alsatian Tarte Flambe, basically a carmelized onion, creamy cheese, and triple-smoked bacon tart. A wonderful match with the wine. | | |
