Purchased blind strictly based on the recommendation from North Berkeley Wines. Decanted for two hours before tasting. The color on this wine is outstanding! A deep, dense dark opaque purple – almost black. The nose is huge and intriguing, serving up wild berries, pepper, sage, menthol, and tar. On the palate this must be what the French refer to as “sauvage” with it’s raw intensity, rich texture, and herbal/meaty nuances. Tannins are firmly in control at this point, and the finish is lengthy, peppery, and gratifying. I can’t call this wine profound, or even terribly complex, but it hard not to like with the wide array of aromatics coupled with it’s brute force. It will be interesting to watch this one develop over the next 5-6 years, 90+ points.

Oh, btw - the price?

$7.96 when purchasing two or more cases. I'd call that a screaming QPR.
