| 1999 Albert Mann Tokay Pinot Gris Grand Cru Furstentum -- medium-gold color; rose petals and peaches on the nose, reminiscent of Gewurtztraminer; wonderfully creamy texture, with pear, peach, cream, honey, and hints of licorice flavors; still feels young, opens up over hour or so, will probably develop further; medium-long, satisfying finish. App. 91-2 pts. | | |

| Drained a bottle of this tonight with Mrs. O. Paired with an Alsatian-style dinner of Pork Tenderloin Medallions in a Creamy Mustard Sauce, with Raspberry Red Cabbage Sauerkraut.
Deep yellow color. Stewed peaches, anise, and lavender on the nose. Bursting with stone fruits, with some slight bortrytis evident on the finish. As Seaquam noted, the texture is on the creamy side, but it is not too heavy. A very buxom wine, with all the action on the surface. Nothing too complex or complicated, just a delightful bottle of wine. 90P.
Cheers,

| I've had a few of the '99 Mann wines (both Gewurz and TPG), and I really wonder about their ability to age any further. There's little to no backbone in the '99s (try a '98 as a counterpoint), and I think with Mann's relatively heavy handed style (ZH-lite) they will tip over into the flabby in short order.
All that said they are great vlaues for current drinking if you like your Alsatians really sweet. (I do sometimes.) | | | |

| I think Mann's 2000 Grand Cru Furstentum Vieilles Vignes Gewurtztraminer has many years of life left ahead of it. It's got acidity to prevent it from turning flabby anytime soon. | | | |

| 2000 is definitely another thing entirely. 2001 is really good too. | | | |
