2000 Domaine des Dorices Muscadet de Sevre et Maine Sur Lie -- OK, this isn't a wine that will ever achieve greatness in my book, but it's the third bottle (I don't remember the names of the previous two) Muscadet from this vintage that I've ordered in a restaurant recently, and they've all exceeded my expectations. This one was very pale--as they all are--with a pleasantly fresh nose of faint citrus and sea air, but in the mouth, it was quite lemony with clear notes of (gasp!) mineral and faint hints of herb. Clean, short-to-medium finish. I believe it's 100% Chenin Blanc, known for its good acidity if nothing else. Did Sevre et Maine have an excellent crop in this vintage? Or is the quality of this area's wines improving? Whatever, I've been very pleased with the last few I've had. App. 86-7 pts. And excellent QPR--most wines from this area that are available here sell for between C$13-17.

Other than Chablis, the best wine to pair with fresh oysters, which we've been doing. (The oysters have been outstanding this year, as well.)
