WS 94; Winetex 95

Great vintage champagne is one of my absolute favorite wine experiences. I bought this for the New Orleans Mag Party based on Jones’ positive review in the first Wine Review.

On the nose there was bread dough and a touch of apples and lemons. Seaquam’s comment was “Granny Smith apples”. There was lemon-lime and vanilla as well as a slight tropical note (not mango but similar). A bit of honey on the finish with spices. The structure was almost perfect. It’s not a heavyweight in character like a Krug or Bollinger (not that there is anything wrong with that..). It was excellent champagne!

Please PM me if you happen to see any 750s of this wine around in your local stores.

Thanks for the great review. I agree with your notes. It was a superior wine, especially from mag.

winetex, www.wine-searcher.com is your friend. There are several places that have this wine (and some even have magnums!). Cost seems to be a bit over $100 for a bottle and $230 on up for the mags.

Thanks Skwid - my issue right now is the heat. No shipping wine until we get back down in the 70s which will be late Oct./early Nov. It does look like its available in various places.

Tasted and the New Orleans Swamp ‘n Grape…

Very fine! Wonderful nose of biscuit and citrus, with light tropical fruit notes. Excellent balance and a tremendous long finish. 93 points.

Pale yellow gold. Multiple beads of fine, fine bubbles. Aromas of apple, pear, yeast, and oatmeal biscuit. Great mouthfeel. Dry, apple, pear, honeysuckle, and jasmine. Slightly shorter on the finish than expected, but still delicious. 92 points.
