Notes from an 80's wine dinner last month.

'89 Schlumberger Cuvee Anne Gewurztraminer. The Schlumberger is actually a Selection de Grains Noble, but you will not see it on the label. The super exuberant aromas were the essence of lychee, rambutan, glazed apricots and peaches with a wonderful spicy caramel note. It had a medium plus sweetness with a ton of fruit that continues on with the tremendously long finish. I think it will continue to evolve over the next 3-5 years and drink well over the next dozen, although it is light with the zesty acidity that would allow it to go on into the next generation.
