Notes from an '80's dinner last month.

A bottle of '83 Chateau Guiraud followed suit (pity for any wine that follows Yquem). The nose of this wine is definitely more developed than the first two with more nuttiness, more notes cinnamon and dried fruits. It was a touch drier than the previous two but with a very nice complexity that helped it show well, although to me the '90 version will be even better. I think the '83 will drink well over the next 5-10 years. A star in the darkness can be very bright, but next to two brighter stars, even it can look pale.
