Notes from wine from the 80's dinner last month.

1989 Veuve Clicquot Vintage Reserve. This wine had exuberant ripe notes of freshly baked breads, ginger and lemongrass, a wonderfully forward nose! The palate was very much the same, just brimming with ripe fruit along with excellent developed character and a lovely finish. It drinks so well right now that it would be very difficult for me to keep my hands off it for too long. It may improve over the next few years, but it is drinking like it's ready to go right now!
