| 2000 Wolfberger Grand Cru Eichberg Tokay Pinot Gris -- this wine is bull$hit! I have no doubt it comes from the vineyard as stated on the label (I had never heard of Eichberg before) but it's a Grand Cru Alsatian wine like I'm a jet fighter pilot.
Almost no nose, even with aggressive swirling; very light-bodied for Alsatian Pinot Gris; thin, washed-out flavors of melon, quince; lots of heat on the front of the tongue, no midpalate impact at all. Alcohol is its most prominent feature.
Two best qualities of this wine: inoffensive texture (well, water has an inoffensive texture) and a mercifully short finish.
The words "Grand Cru" appear in large, prominent lettering at the top of the label of this wine, about 4 times the size of the producer's name. Its intent is clearly to get a less-knowledgeable purchaser to buy the bottle. It worked for a friend of mine, who had high expectations. As 2 couples drank the wine, no one said even one word about it, something which has never hoppened before with any wine we've shared. They were a bit embarrassed, I think, and we were a bit polite.
This wine should have been declassified into a generic TPG release, and it's offensive that it wasn't. Wolfberger is a very large Alsatian negociant; I once heard them described as "the Gallo of Alsace." I will make it a point of avoiding purchasing any of their products in the future!
This wine is bull$hit!
OK, I feel better now. | | | |

| So, how many points and would you buy it again? By the way, Seaq, I didn't know you had been a Royal Canadian Mounted Pilot. Here's to serving the Queen!

| By the way, stemor, that would be "Her Royal Highness."
I'm allowed to refer to her simply as "the Queen." But if you're from a Colony That Left, I'm afraid it's required of you to use the more formal form of address in all references and allusions.
Just so you know... | | | |

| Good Lord, to think my greatgrandparents ...er... severed... Nelson's arm with a cannonball. What position does that afford me within the empire? | | | |

| Gastro, I believe that entitles you to address Her Royal Highness as "Liz, baby!"
However, NEVER in front of the servants, of course. | | | |
