IWC 89-90; Winetex 87; $13

We opened this after a Sauv Blanc was a goner with Chinese food.

It smells a bit like like a cantaloupe with a bit of coconut. These flavors continue throughout with decent complexity and acidity. It is a bit sweet – blind I think I would guess a Riesling from Alsace. A nice wine for a good price that matches up well with Asian food.

Thanks for the TN, Winetex. I agree that Asian food is very good match for this bottling.

The Trimbach PG Reserve is a consistently solid wine year in and year out, at a very nice price. A nice candidate for the "everyday wine" bin in the cellar.

IMO, the 2000 vintage is just a click below the normal quality level. However, I am looking forward to the 2001 vintage, since that was supposedly a very good year for Alsace (like its neighbor Germany). Hopefully, the price won't climb too much (especially with the 40% increase in the euro exchange rate since last year).

Cheers,

Otis

Otis - I have really enjoyed the 2001 Weinbach wines from Alsace. Hopefully the Trimbach wines will follow suit.
