• 1999 Pierre Peters Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut Cuvée Spéciale - France, Champagne, Le Mesnil Sur Oger, Champagne (8/14/2008)
  Popped for 3rd wedding anniversary. Dark yellow in glass, nice effervescence. Very fruit and floral driven nose, think ripe stone fruits, ripe apples, hints of flowers, touch of biscuit. Medium plus in the mouth, nicely concentrated. Tasty and fruit driven, especially for a blanc de blancs. A touch of sweetness is met with a pronounced acidic backbone...yet the fruit really pushes through and definitely wins out. Seems open for business, especially after 30+ minutes of air. I have little experience with aging champagne but I would think a bottle of this will improve in the near to mid-term and may be at it's best after another 12-18 months in the cellar. Great to toast with on our anniversary! (92 pts.)
