Had to taste it for myself. It's too expensive to back up the truck but everyone who likes fine wine and Champagne should own this wine.  It was not the wine it should ultimately be but the potential is there. The finish was really pretty amazing.Â
93+ points - note that this is a real baby; As I don't rate on potential anymore my score is not as high as some of the others.
1996 Krug Champagne Brut - France, Champagne (12/15/2007) 93+ in the moment for this bottle; The first taste really had little going on. As it opened up in subsequent glasses the vintage Krug aromas and flavors kicked in. As others have noted it was painfully young and the aged characteristics should develop. Its intensity was superb as was the extremely long finish. There were more tropical flavors than I usually associate with vintage Krug, especially coconut. Also almond and citrus flavors. Not as evolved as the 1990 at this stage. A legend in progress. [Next bottle up 2012?]
