WIML85,PURPLE82
Tasted November 25, 2007. 50% Syrah, 50% Grenanche. Made by Laurence Feraud of Domaine de Pegau fame.
Opened and served immediately. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Muted nose up front that gave way to aromas of berries, cedar, rose petals, Kirsch and plum; never settling down in one spot for more than a few moments. Rustic on the palate up front giving way to some flavors of Bing cherries, licorice and bitters on the short finish. Also there was a hint of a metallic finish as well which does not bode well in my book. Later on some berries showed up with some air time. Medium to bright acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium body. Seems a bit disjointed. Drink over the short to medium term.
Provided my first red wine headache in a while. (85 pts.)
