2003 ‘C’ de Camplong Corbières - France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Corbières (11/24/2007)
WIML88+

Tasted November 24, 2007. Purchased from the wine list at Fearing's in Dallas, TX. Opened and served immediately. Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Beautiful and attractive nose of perfume, rich berries and notes of freshly roasted coffee. Palate did not match the nose however with a fairly rustic presentation of simple red fruits such as berries and cherries. Medium acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium to firm body. Could use an hour or so in the decanter if consumed now but should hold well over the next 10 plus years fairly easily, perhaps even picking up a few points as it better integrates with bottle age.

'C' de Complong is a a new wine for Chateau Complong made in consultation with Dominique Laurent and Michel Tardieu. It is a Rhone styled blend comprised of 50% Syrah from 15 year old vines, 26% Carignan from vines over 50 years old, 16% Grenache from 45 year old vines and the balance of 8% coming from Mourvèdre. Grapes are all harvested by hand from the slightly rugged south slopes of the best slopes of the Montagne d'Alaric. (88 pts.)
