From  54% 2004 and 46% from vintages 2003, 2002, 2001-1999-1994, 93% Chardonnay, 7% Pinot Noir, 28g/l R.S. - Delicate nose of flowers and spice, mixed with apples and bread notes.  Full body, high complexity and acidity with a long off dry finish.  Spice, flowers, baked-spiced apples and nuts on the palate. 88pts.

Located within the Montagne de Reims these wines are produced by Arnaud Margaie from the Premier Cru site of Villers-Marmery, Chardonnay planted within Pinot country on clay-limestone soils.  4,600 cases are produced annually from vines planted to 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Noir. The Montagne de Reims is a horseshoe shaped area with a variety of expositions, made up of soils of Cretaceous chalk with mixtures of clay and sand.  The village is planted to 56% Pinot noir, 28% Chardonnay and 16% Meunier.

N.V. A. Margaine Demi Sec Champagne - France, Champagne (7/19/2008)
WIML91,PURPLE91

Tasted July 19, 2008.

12% alcohol. Back label had "Mars 200" written on it so I don't know the ending year of likely distribution. Yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout with stead and fine beading. Nose of yellow apples, pears, toast and a touch of butter. Yeasty flavors of dough, butter, almond and some sweet cherries on the medium to long finish. Bright acidity, medium to full body. Drink over the short to medium term. Lovely Demi Sec, I never seem to have enough in the cellar. Might be worth another point or two than given. Recommended. (91 pts.)

His Brut Rose is fantastic. Try it if you get a chance.
