| 80% Pinot Noir (1er Cru's- Avenay Val d’Or, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, and Bisseuil), 20% Chardonnay (Grand Cru's and 1er Cru of Mareuil, Oiry and Chouilly), 35% 2004, 65% 2003. 8g/l dosage - Moderate nose of strawberry, rose petal, raspberry and wet stones. Moderate body, high complexity ad acidity. Toasted bread, baked apples, wet stones and red fruits on the palate. 91pts.
Jean-Paul has 12.5ha of vines in the Premier Cru sites of Mareuil-sur-Ay, Avenay, Val d’Or and Bisseuil in the Vallee de la Marne. Also vines in the Grand Cru’s of Chouilly and Oiry in the Cote des Blancs. Producing 5800 cases annually his vines are made up of 25% Chardonnay and 75% Pinot Noir. Vallee de la Marne is planted to 63% Meunier, 27% Pinot Noir and 10% Chardonnay. Top soil is limestone, clay, marl, sand and flint with sub-soil of Cretaceous chalk. The Cote des Blancs is planted to 96% Chardonnay, 3% Pinot Noir and 1% Meunier with a soil of cretaceous chalk and some clay and sand. Most vineyards have an east or southeast exposition. | | | |
