2000 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut - France, Champagne (5/4/2007)

Tasted May 4, 2007 at a local restaurant. Purchased from the wine list for the bargain price of $245.00 a bottle; I just had to do it at that price. Opened and served immediately. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout with a light to medium mousse. Nose of grapefruit, lemon, nutmeg, graham crackers and a little cookie dough. Flavors of a mix of citrus fruits, graham crackers, cookie dough and a dash of cherry fizz on the finish. Lot’s of acidity, medium to full bodied champagne. Could use a few more years in bottle so my recommendation is to hold. PURPLE says “92-light, citrusy, grapefruit, ginger, cookie dough. Nice, crisp, acidity in balance. Enjoyable Champagne.”. Good Champagne but I can’t recommend it at current retail pricing starting around $200.00. (92 pts.)
