Tasted April 22, 2007 at home as part of the Wino Depot Tasting With Friends event for April. Opened and served immediately in a Speigelau Authentis Magnum glass. Garnet to purple color in the glass, lovely coloring with a clear hue throughout. Nose of thistle, bark mulch, earth, peet moss, tobacco…you’re getting the picture here. Flavors of boysenberry and you guess it…earth. Light to medium acidity, drying tannins, light to medium body. Would make a great paint thinner if you added a little alcohol. I’m thinking maybe this wine needs a little more time in bottle to round out? Hold or decant. Splash decanting did seem to help it a bit after about an hour. (80 pts.)
