1996 Bruno Michel Champagne Cuvée Millesimee - France, Champagne (10/21/2006) Light gold in color and in a clear bottle with non-UV wrap. This started out too cold with an expansive nose but not much going on otherwise. As it warmed up deep pear aromas and flavors kicked in along with classic brioche. The acidity was striking in this wine and for me it needs some additional time in the cellar. It had potential and the other bottles are now in the deep cellar. [~$60 on release] (91 pts.) The staff at SF K&L are pushing this as a bargain. I wonder, when there are things like the N.V. Bollinger Special Cuvee out there. Opinion?

It is not better than the Bollinger at this point in time. And the Bollinger should cost a lot less. I'm going to age mine for a few years as I think it will be a better wine at that point. The Launois Quartz at $29.99 is just as good or slightly better at K&L.
