N.V. Jean Lallement Champagne Brut Grand Cru - France, Champagne (10/20/2006) 90+; Gold in color with a vigorous medium mousse. A non-vintage champagne with good aromatics and distinct hazelnut and earthy flavors. There were fruit flavors that ranged between a plum (unusual for Champagne) and Asian pear. It was reasonably complex and could improve if the bubbles integrate more. This had a bold style - think Bollinger with more unique flavors but maybe less sophistication. [~$40 on release] (90 pts.) N.V. Jean Lallement Champagne Brut Grand Cru - France, Champagne (11/17/2006) Notes similar to the previous bottle. The tag attached to this bottle says: Vintages are 1998 and 1999 with the mix of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay. Disgorged 7/18/05. (90 pts.)
