1996 Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Champagne La Grande Dame - France, Champagne (3/11/2006) Dinner at the Wine Cask (The Wine Cask, Santa Barbara, CA): This was champagne in a bold style - the most yeasty and mushroomy of the 96s tasted in its flight. The best drink of this was after it sat in my glass for about 10 minutes and its complexity was revealed. Scrumptious but needs time like the good 96s do. (94 pts.) Posted from CellarTracker

I expect to be posting a note on this within the month. I must say, from all that I've read, this sounds like a clone of the '90 which was (is) a HUGE, doughy mushroomy wine (and one of the best Champagnes I've ever tasted).

96 LGD needs more time in the bottle. Three years or more are going to be kind to it. The 90 is drinking great now.
