  • 1995 Taittinger Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne - France, Champagne, Côte des Blancs, Champagne (1/22/2006)

Pale gold in color with a medium mousse. This was WOW champagne. In style it was reminiscent of the 1996 Dom Perignon but had additional complexity that the Dom should gain in time. I agree with Tanzer in that did remind me of a great white burg in its sheer purity and focus. Classy champagne that should continue to improve for years. [~ $90; A buy if available under $110] (95 pts.)

Yes indeed. I bought it from PC last june and they delivered it last week. Great champagne! It was in absolutely pristine condition imported by Premier Cru (vs. another importer then to PC) Also, Woodland Hills Wine Co has it for $99 in stock.

Congrats Winetex - 11 years is worth celebrating (especially with champagne) - my wife and i are approaching our 5th year of "being together" (dating, engagement and 3 years of marriage) next week... needless to say, we'l be drinking champagne too!

I've had the pleasure of drinking this once with mr. and mrs. raybanz and it was fantastic - one of my top wines of last year.

I had my 4th bottle of the 95 Comtes on July 14th for my 11th anniversary as well. It is drinking better than ever. Strong 97 points.

Add me to the fan list.

I totally see the white Burgundy note. This will get even better with time but right now it just has so much going on. Poached pear and apricots, creamy, buttery, roasted hazelnuts. I almost got a hint of figs and dates. Long finish and great frothy mouthfeel. Deffinitely more hedonistic than intellectual at this stage. 95 for hedonism, 93 for intellect but the intellect part will catch up over the next few years (if you can hold out). 94(+)
I can't listen to that much Wagner. I start getting the urge to conquer Poland.
