The nose on this was incredible for a wine of this type. It showed off some dark rasberry aromas and banana (a sign of carbonic maceration). The acidity is the dominant charecteristic in the mouth along with some earthiness. I fealt that the wine was short on length and the flavors quickly disipated to leave an uneventful finish. This one is fast at the gun but not much on distatnce.

Actually,

Parker rated this wine an 88. It really was a nice surprise. I have a 2000 Dubeouf Moulin a Vent that parker rated 91 that I havn't tried yet. I'm interested to see what that is like.

The 2000 version of this wine was also surprisingly good. I think Parker rated that vintage a 90, I don't think I was as generous.

Have to admit I was surprised to see the 87 score after reading your TN. Your TN would lead me to think it's more of an low 80s (at best) than a high 80s wine.

No,

The wine showed real pretty up front. I enjoyed it a great deal. The length and follow through hurt the total score. To make more clear the initial impression of this wine was fantastic (say 90 points) the follow through was not as impressive (like 84) average out to around an 87. This isn't actually how I came about the score but it is the basis for the thought process.

I can understand the points that both of you make. My fear was that without defining the things that I was not impressed with, the beginning of the note would describe a much better wine. Anyway, let me say that this was very enjoyable, and a good deal at $12.
