| - 2000 Rene Mure Riesling Vorbourg Clos Saint Landelin - France, Alsace, Haut Rhin, Alsace Grand Cru AOC (12/29/2004)
Tasted at the WIML off-line at Speakeasy Supper Club. Vino Me scored me a few bottles of this Grand Cru Riesling for $11 each (normally around $40). The wine has one of the widest disparities in ratings that I've encountered (79P by WS and 93P by WA). Light gold color. Beautiful floral, peach blossom nose. Then it's like sucking a lemon. Really acidic citrus flavors from entry to finish. Perhaps it would be okay paired with a cream sauce over seafood, but on its own, it was pucker-city. Looks like WS was closer to the mark on this one, unfortunately. (83 pts.)
