1979 Charles Heidsieck Oenotheque

Was disgorged approximately two years ago. On the nose was delightfully fresh with plenty of fruit still kicking, lots of citrus and deep yeasty Pinot fruit. It was also fresh on the palate showing plenty of fruit still but as it warmed up it really came on with more notes of development, some really nice toast, butterscotch, plenty of amplitude as well as zingy acidity on the palate. A truly delicious Champagne that is still remarkably fresh due to the recent disgorgement. It was wonderfully inviting and could have improved over another 3-10 years on the cork-lovely! -rv
