It's amazing that there wasn't already a note on this one.

  • 1989 Krug Champagne - Champagne, Champagne, France (11/26/2004)
Medium gold color. Dry, very complex with minerals, toast and a creamy mouthfeel. Unmistakably Krug but lacks some body next to the 1988 and the 1990 releases. This is splitting hairs though when a wine is this good.

    Signed, Krugista

[$$$; Ready to drink now; Served with sushi] (94 pts.)

Would $135 be a good price on this wine? I obviously don't know Champagne very well but did see this bottle marked down from something much higher....

$135 would be a decent price for this wine just know that you can get the 88 or the 90 for about $30 more.

If you want a vintage Krug to drink now, then it is a great value (as the 88's and 90's shan't be peaking for some time to come).

I just bought three bottles of the 1990 at $165 including sales tax.

Minerals, butter lemongrass, poached pears, apples and some spice. A very round palate, medium plus intensity and medium acidity. Nose follows through. This vintage seems on the ageing fast track but will hold for another decade. 93pts

My notes are repeating themselves now.
