| This is an NV Champagne from Krug. If someone offers you a Vintage Krug Rose run away, very far away, there is no such thing.
The Krug Rose is very expensive, even more expensive than the Vintage Krug Brut. However it is "oh so good". Not much yeast in this Champagne, more fruit flavors. Lots of very fine bubbles from this bottle.

Yep, if you are lucky you will find this for less than $200 but that is typically unlikely. However look at it this way, what does a great Cabernet cost? Quite possibly more than $200 (especially if you are talking Bordeaux 2K or 2k3). Thus if you are willing to spend $200+ on a Cab why not on a Champange? Champagne is a much more food friendly wine the Cabernet Sauvignon so at dinner it will work better with the courses.
To add to the note above I left one glass and went to the Cal - Oregon game (Go Bears!). The fizz was totally gone and the oak started to show through some. Still a very nice wine but quite a bit different. Something I could probably drink as a still wine but not at the cost. It was good though.
Btw, this was one of the two Champagnes we had for the 2nd Annual Vinocellar Anniversary dinner. I brought four bottles of this and four bottles of the 1990 Krug Brut. There were two bottles of this left unopened. I don't think it is because this is a bad Champagne, it is just that the 1990 Krug is a Stupendous Champagne so folks were slurping it up (relatively speaking).

| I understand what you are saying, skwid. And, thanks for bringing those bottles on Saturday. Those 2 bottles of Bubbly were awesome. That being said, I have to draw the line somewhere. And, $200.00 for a Bubbly is that line. To be honest, I do not make it a habbit to buy $200.00 bottle of wine(s). Thus, I am thinking of dropping Harlan Estate for that reason.
But, you are absolutely correct in your assessment (comparing to a special bottle of red).

| | I actually prefer the Rose to the 90 but I agree with LCC I can't pay the tariff this wine requires. Still exceedingly fine wine however. | | | |

Worth picking up a few bottles?

| | That's a great price on the Krug Rose. I'd purchase a bottle and drink it. If you like it go back for more. | | | |

I drank it, loved it and would go bankrupt at that price.

| | Actually now that I think about it that is a F$%^ing A price. I believe that is lower than wholesale. I'd probably back up the truck because I really like Krug Rose. You should probably try the Champagne first and then figure out wether you like it. Although at that price if you dive in big and don't like the Champagne I'm sure there are some vinocellar members who would take the wine off your hands. | | | |

| N.V. Krug Champagne Brut Rosé - France, Champagne (4/13/2007) WIML93+,~WA93-94,~WS84-96
Tasted April 13, 2007 at an offline. Opened about an hour without decanting before serving. Light salmon color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose red cherries and strawberries with perhaps some mild pear and sherry notes. Maybe even some vanilla? Flavors of cherries and strawberries. Crisp acidity, medium bodied. Drink or hold. | Copper, fine bead, medium nose of red berry, rose petals, minerals, citrus hints. Medium body, medium plus intensity and acidity. Great flow, seamless with incredible intensity, yet so lithe on your palate. Balanced. 94pts.
