| It's happened. Due to a shortage of bubbly vaccinations across the country, I've caught the Champagne bug. Thankfully, I'm wallowing in my misery with a 375ml of this, a producer whom I've been meaning to try.
Duval-Leroy NV Brut ($16)
Pleasant nose of freshly-cut apples on the nose. On the palate, it's medium-weight and moderate creaminess is nice, and the fruit is also nice. That's it though, it's nice, I would serve it at a party for a lot of folks, but it really fails to excite me in any way. It is a correct, though uneventful bubbly. 87 points.
I hope to try the 1996 BdB if I see it anywhere.
Incidentally, I've noticed that some Champagnes, the bubbles rise from the bottom of the flute, while on others, it just rises randomly. In general, the better bubblies rise in the former manner. Any explanation for this???

| I think I've tried this and it was only a few bucks less than the 1996 Blanc de Blancs so I passed on purchasing more than one bottle. Unfortunately I can no longer find the 1996 BdB.
As for the bubbles, the finer Champagnes have smaller bubbles and this may be what you are noticing.
Tomorrow morning Krug Rose.

| $26, Retail.
Jaimetown posted above that it cost $16 in 04. That's a good price for it. I am not sure I paid a good price for it though @ $26. WS rated this 93 points. Wow. I don't know where it is they got 93 points out of this bottle. But, like jaimetown I got 87 points out of this bottle. A decent bottle of wine is all.

| | Mr. Lcc, jamietown indicates that he paid the $16.00 for a 375...$26.00 you paid for a 750 is a great price. I bought a case in 2006 @ $23.95 per bottle. haven't seen it below $29.95 in my neck of the woods since. | | | |

| | OK, but @ $30/per, for me, it is pushin' it. | | | |

| | Brought wine for a wedding in CT, but the place doesn't even know what corkage is. So, they have this for $30 on the list, worth it or should I drink beer? | | | |

| | It is not a bad bottle, very average. Again, WS gave it a 93. I thought it was an 87 as did jamietown above. | | | |
