Hi, I'm new to this site and wanted to introduce myself with a TN. Perhaps some of you know me from the BWE site or Belmaati.com where I've been more active in the past. Anyway, I'm excited to be here.

'03 Coudert Clos De La Roilette Fleurie.

I purchased this wine today from a very knowledgeable local merchant (wink, wink) and wanted to give it a taste. This is a Louis/Dressner Selection with a certain cult-following that I've only read about to date. Now I can speak first-hand as this is a wine I've wanted to try for some time.

Dark red in color with mild lightening at the rim. The first smell is of earth, herbs, leather and spice with perhaps a little alcohol. Out of the chute this wine reminded me of a Southern Rhone but that did not last. With time the spice took charge and notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and smoke could be detected. In the mouth is where this wine takes charge. Medium-bodied it offers rich red fruit (cherry) fruit buffered by soft tannins and subtle acidity. The finish is graceful. This is a wine for food and a great early experience for me in the region. Recommended.

I'm from central New Jersey. Acutally, just relocated here from Chicago. I'm going to have to update my profile. Thanks.

Hey Roberto! Excellent TN!

Glad you liked the Coudert. I thought it was pretty tasty as well. I'm off to SF tomorrow for the VinoCellar festivities. I'll let you know the next time our Jersey Crew gets together to drink some wine.
