1914 Pol Roger Vintage Champagne
Christian Pol Roger attended the tasting and bought a couple of bottles of the amazing 1914 vintage and told some great stories about Champagne during the First and Second World Wars. The 1914 was disgorged in 1944 and re-corked in 1999. Mid gold in colour with just a slight spritz remaining. Superb complexity....multi-layered....toasty, citrus fruit, cream, dried herbs, hints of some smoky stuff....beautiful wine......97 Points | | | |

| | Michael Broadbent gave 1914 4 stars in his latest book. He has had the Pol Roger and his notes aren't as excited about the Champagne as Matau's. He did really like the 1914 Bollinger. | | | |

| | Great or not it is nice to have the opportunity to try such an aged champagne. The oldest I have yet had is a 1959 Drappier Cote d'Or though RD'ed within the year I drank it. Love aged champagne. | | | |
