| This is a "premier cru" white burgundy from the Cote Chalonaise that is often rated in the high 80's by Parker. I picked this up a while back for under $20 I believe. I have often found nice wines from this area just south of the Cote d' Or but this wasn't one of them.
The wine had the crisp stone appearance associated by me with Chablis. The nose was was not very aromatic and did not show much. The first impression was biting acidity and a bitter feeling on the back of the tounge. The wine did open up to show some citrus and stone fruit nuance as it developed but was never able to achieve roundness and balance. The finish was one dimentional and alcohol driven.
After sampling the first glass I decided on a dinner to make (I often make dinner based on a wine, I know what's in the pan - but I don't know what secrets in the bottle!) I some chicken cutlets served with a cream sauce that incorporated the wine and served it over some steamed green beans cooked with just a touch of brown sugar. This meal cut through the acid and kept the bitter sensation in check. With this meal the wine was enjoyable!
