Moderate bricking around the edge of a dark cherry-red core and throwing a fair amount of sediment. The nose on this wine is stinky! Earth, barnyard, and musty aromas dominate, with light cherry and dark plum peak out underneath. On the palate this wine shows the lost promise of wine well past it’s peak, with fruit on fading (yet still present) and acid starting to dominate the profile. Tannins however are still surprisingly intact, and one gets only the sense that this was something much more in years past. 85 points.
