| | This wine was served to me blind at the wine shop. Brilliant light gold color, with a sweet, ripe apple and apricot nose. Loire valley wine, I thought at first. Then with some time in the glass, the wine opened up - steely and faint mineral elements started to become evident, with nuances of high quality french oak I've come to expect in quality white burgundy. On the palate, it was quite unctuous, with ripe fruit, net skins with great focus and pedigree. It had a Mersault-like mid=palate with Puligny-like elegance on the finish. What could it be? I guessed maybe it was a '96 Puligny 1er Cru, maybe even a Mersault, because the wine had some oiliness and weight to it. To my surprise it was a '98 Puligny. Never had a Sauzet wine before, but I was very impressed, considering the vintage too. A real treat. 95pts. Not sure about the price, but I'm guessing around $100. | | | |

| | According to wine-searcher.com this wine goes for about $60 and up. Sauzet makes some very very nice white burgs. I'd highly recommend the producer (however, in subpar years for white burg I don't know that I would purchase much of anyone). | | | |
