This wine showed a brilliant purple/magenta color in the glass - I was struck at how "un-ruby" colored it was - it looked almost like a light Syrah. Anyway, the nose was full of sweet, sappy, red cherries - the wine was frightfully tannic however - I deemed it undrinkable for the first hour or so. But it softened up considerably to reveal tart, bright red cherry flavors, ending with a short finish. Overall, an uninspiring wine. 85pts. ($30)

If you have more of this, I would hold it for 3-5 yrs and see what happens. The frightful tannins may integrate better and the wine could gain some complexity. I like the Magnien wines I have had previously.
