I've noticed that the Burgundy TNs have been lagging behind a lot of the other sections, so I thought I'd help out by opening a few bottles.

This is the second time I've had a wine from "les Charmes" in Puligny - the first was by Borgeot (also a '00) and I enjoyed it very much (90-92pts IIRC). This wine by Girardin showed a light yet shimmering golden color in the glass. An inviting nose of ripe apples, chalk and minerals from the nose, as well as a slight hint of high quality oak that I've come across in good white burgs. On the palate, the wine displayed balanced fruit with a round and generous mid-palate, and a lingering finish that was a tad bitter. It improved in the glass for about 45 min, which suggests that decanting would help on this wine - however, the wine kind of fell apart as the evening wore on (without a significant drop in the temperature of the wine).

This wine was like a Red Sox game in which Pedro Martinez pitched - a strong effort by the starting pitcher wasted by the bullpen. Still enjoyable (if your not a Red Sox fan), though I would not purchase again - 87pts in my book. ($36)

I would have expected it to be better. Do you think it needs another year or two in the bottle. I'm sure jb will chime in here when he sees it. Btw, where is jb?

Board-O, I initially had this wine at 91pts in the first hour I was drinking it - but it lost the Puligny elegance very rapidly and so I lowered my ratings on it. I'm not sure aging will help, but then again, I have very little experience with aged Puligny, and this was my first Girardin white. It seemed like Rovani liked a few other Girardin Puligny bottlings, though I could not find a rating for this wine.

I'm here. I have nothing to add about this wine. I have had a few other Girardin Puligny's, but as you know, there is high variability within Burgundy. FWIW, the '00 Puligny Champs Gains by Girardin is a very nice wine.

I want to add that I had some of the leftovers last night with pork stir-fry and it was actually better the second night. It did come together a little bit more.
