Penetrating nose of red cherry, strawberry, spice, damp earth, tea and violets.  Medium body, high complexity and acidity with medium minus tannin. Silky, spicy and well textured with red fruits, La Tache asian spice, earth and leather with light soy. 96pts

Sounds incredible and doesn't look like your move is slowing you down too much. Did you taste these blind?

No I didn't. The move is definitely slowing me down, A LOT!!! These were from right before I left Hawaii. Just notes I am catching up on. Quite a few more Bordeaux ones to come.

So when are the tastings going to speed up again? From the looks of it you got to drink more incredible wines than anyone while in Hawaii. So do you need to change you screen name from alohaj to something else?

Probably once I start working again, which should be really soon.

Sadly (though not really) I probably drank third string of wines in Hawaii. There is an amazing amount of money and wine collectors in Hawaii. Google names like Tawfig Khoury and you'll see what I mean. I just happened to be very fortunate to get involved with a group of carefree wino's that were truly interested in my wine development and to help me accomplish my goals. One great way to learn about wine is to have lots of bottles popped, especially from the worlds top producers. They always included me though I couldn't hang financially with them for a second.

As for the screen name, who knows? I like to think that I still exude the Aloha spirit and thus can keep the name for a little while longer (or as long as my skin still holds some tan)

I know this is a TN, but I'm curious, what did you do in Hawaii and what are your future plans?  Sounds like you found some amazingly good and generous people to help you towards your goal, whatever that may be.

I understand about the screen name thing.  It's hard to drop where your heart lies.  I grew up in Nor Cal and became a San Diego beach bum, only to end up in Fargo.  Strange how life takes you to places you would never expect.

Thanks again for all your TN's.  I feel I've learned through your TN's and experiences.  Best of luck with your future endeavours.

J - I think you should stay Alohaj. As you say "in the spirit".
