Had a very good QPR burgundy last night ($22 with case discount) on the recommendation of a friend I used to work with:
- 2005 Domaine Lamy-Pillot Saint-Aubin Les Argillieres - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin (11/29/2007)
(Pinot Noir, not Chardonnay) A very good bottle of wine - I've never had a St. Aubin rouge before so I didn't know what to expect. This wine was very friendly - flavors of dark cherries, with a hint of almonds and minerals. Elegant yet a very generous mid-palate with soft tannins which reveal themselves on the finish. I've had Bourgognes that have had more structure than this - this is great for drinking now as the other 2005s age. How will this age? Not sure if this terroir will show rusticity down the line, but it was very pure and refined Cotes du Beaune. (89 pts.)
