Tried from 375ml.
A moderate nose peeks out of the glass offering cocoa, metal, and a bit of earth.
On the palate, this comes across as being slightly closed displaying a pretty tight mouthfeel with a masculine style that emphasizes fruits on the dark side of the spectrum. It shows admirable ripeness, well integrated wood and excellent structure with moderate acidity. My one complaint is that the fruit isn't quite as clean or transparent as many other 2005s.
A good wine but rather ordinary for the vintage (in my experience so far...perhaps we're spoiled with these '05s?). I guess it boils down to the fact that I'd rather cellar other wines at this price point.
