Moderate nose of wet earth, dilute with black cherry, raspberry and baked strawberry with spice. Medium body, moderate complexity, moderate plus acidity and low tannin. No real delineation of structure or flavor on the palate. 83pts.


As an aside, this was a humorous night. My friend brought this, popped it, asked my opinion, and I said it wasn’t too good. He said on the break (we were at a jazz show) that he had a 1999 of the same wine that he would go grab. He went and grabbed the 1999, we both tasted it, look at each other and say, no this ones not doing it either. He says, it’s ok, I brought back up. Pulls out a 2002 Rousseau Mazy-Chambertin; CORKED!!!. In the funny way that this friend of mine rolls he says... I brought back up for the back up. Pulls out a 2003 Domaine Joseph Roty Mazy-Chambertin. We both taste, look at each other and smile. Finally one that hits the spot for the night. A very expensive Burgundy experiment. I am glad that my friends take me along for their expensive rides. ;)
