2001 Louis Jadot Chambertin-Clos-de-Beze Grand Cru
Burgundy in color with a medium nose of powerful, rich red and black fruits mixed with some earth and leather. Medium body, medium plus intensity and medium plus acidity. Spicy core comes through on the palate with more concentrated red and black fruit and hints of sandalwood. Balanced with great length and flow, this could definitely use another 10 years. A damn good wine!

Man oh man. This could be a ringer in a Barolo tasting. It has that much tannic grip. Compelling nose of dark craberries and brown spice with maybe just a hint of iodine (but in a good way) gives way to a wonderfully powerful palate and a long finish. But... as the night wore on this wine closed down signaling to me that it should not be touched for at least 7 years as it is about to go through a dumb phase. Hard to tell what it will be once it re-emerges, but I bet it will be very very good Before it closed down: 93
