1999 Bouchard Père & Fils Volnay Caillerets Ancienne Cuvée Carnot (WIML87,NOWA,WS86)

Tasted October 19, 2005 at an offline so brief comments. Opened and served immediately in Spiegelau Authentis Balloon Magnum glasses. Dark plum color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of saddlesoap, tar, flowers, dark fruit and just a little but of cigar box. Earthy on the palate with some black licorice, black cherry and a mildly peppery finish. This was my last bottle of this wine and I think it was time to go; it didn’t show as well as previous bottles in my opinion. We’ll one point off of previous consistent ratings of 88 points. Drink them now if you have them, do not buy them if you don’t.
