Made by the offspring of Madame Leroy, this wine is a showstopper. 12.5% alcohol. $33 (in London). Cloudy black red color with thick clear clear legs. An already huge crisp nose of anise, rose, plum, cinnamon, mint, and black fruits. A big but not chewy mouthful of fruit coupled with high acidity and moderate tannins. Give this wine 10 years and you will be floored. 93 points.

I did a quick search for this on WineSearcher and nothing came up. Any thoughts on where this can be had and just how small case production is? Wine is very intriguing. In the meantime, I will call my French-Connection and see what he can come up with.

Sorry JB. I don't know much and as near as I can tell, Parker has not reported on this winery at all. I found it in Knightsbridge at Harvey Nichols. It was also available at Aune in Paris. Those are the only places where I have found them. I have never seen them in the U.S. but I haven't looked too hard ( I am going to now). The domaine is located in Nuits St Georges.

Jones,
you mean Augè in Paris (which is a store I know in Boulevard Haussmann) or is it really Aune, if so do you have any details? I'll be in Paris wednesday.

Yeah that is the one in the 8th arrondisement. As you face the store, there are a number of PR wines on the far left wall next to the Mortets (at least they were there when I was there in early September).

Jones,
Do you think this maybe attached to the Domaine Maurice Prieure estates which include alot of Beaujolais, Savigny les Beaune and several estates around Beaune itself?

I don't know Jeremy however I am certain this winery is in Nuits St Georges so unless they opened a separate facility for these wines then it probably isn't.

Hmm, this is interesting. A quick google search turns up this info:

"This domaine is owned by Henri Roch, manager of Domaine de la Romanee Contee and nephew of Madame Bize Leroy.

Planted and grown organically, with this breeding, you can expect only the greatest wines to be produced in each vintage by Henri."

I wonder how Prieur is involved.

Jeremy,
Prieurè Roch is probably some ancestor of Henri Roch, and he was the religious head of some abbey or whatever.
Nothing to do with the Prieur family.
