1996 Bachelet-Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Caillerets -- the light gold colour suggested that this wine likely wants a bit more time in the cellar, and that was confirmed on tasting; a citrus and roasted nut nose opened up over an hour or so as the wine warmed up; flavours of lemnon zest, hazelnut, cream were abundant, with good acidity and medium weight; very long finish. Around 89-90 pts. today, but very likely to still improve, though it will never become a powerhouse.
