Another day, and another bottle of a Marc Colin 2002 St. Aubin. My wife was making pork tenderloin, and she required a "dash of white wine." Just the excuse I needed!

Marc Colin 2002 St. Aubin 1er Montceau ($25, St. Aubin)

Yellow gold in color - primary flavors of citrus, green apples and chalk. Still tightly wound, the wine shows a lot like it is a village wine from Chassagne-Montrachet - slightly lacking in refinement but the stuffing is there with bright citrus-apple flavors and a bitter chalk-laced finish. An hour after being opened, it opened up and smoothed out with more yellow apple flavors. I still have half bottle left that I will try tonight, but my next bottle will sleep for at least another year - I'm confident that this wine will improve with time. 88+ points.

Finished off the remainder of the bottle last night - the wine had opened up considerably and it was drinking very well. Still reminiscent of Chassagne-Montrachet - glad to have a few more bottles.

Had another bottle of this recently. This wine has opened up a lot and is showing a lot of fleshy and pure fruit of apples, a little pear and a good mineral core. Not nearly as tightly wound as before, I think it is really starting to drink nicely. 91 points.

The day afterwards, I went and purchased the last two bottles of this wine sitting on the shelves of one of my accounts. The Charmois is still my favorite St. Aubin from Marc Colin, but the Monceau is really starting to pick it up.

I had two glasses of the Charmois last night and see why you like it so much. Good stuff with a great perfume-like nose.

I'm glad you enjoyed it wineaux. When it comes to Marc Colin St. Aubins, I pimp it like Winetex pimps Krug...

LOL!

Jamietown - do you rep Marc Colin? I'm asking because I rarely see them for sale in this region.

I wish I did - Colin is imported by Robert Chadderdon (who imports another one of my faves, Billecart Salmon), and they frequently changes distributors all over the US.

Opened my last bottle of the Montceau last night - and though it was drinking nicely, I think it still could have used another year. Very chiseled with lots of apple, chalk and mineral. Though it will not be as good as the other St. Aubins (Charmois or Sentiers du Clou), still a very satisfying white burgundy (and no signs of oxidation to boot).
