2002 Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis Premier Cru Montmains -- beautiful pale gold colour, but downhill from there; disappointingly simple; apple/pear nose, similar flavours with fairly soft mouthfeel, faint hints of chalk/mineral; shortish finish. Missing the clear minerality and crisp acidity of good Chablis. App. 83-84 pts. Certainly correct and drinkable, but doesn't seem to have the tightness to suggest much improvement from cellaring. Priced poorly at C$40.

Medium-gold colour. Aromas of honey, pineapple, cream, minerals. Medium-bodied, crisp, with minerals, apple, pineapple. Moderate finish, 30s, with pink grapefruit, flint/stone notes. 88 points (03/18/2005).
