89 WS; 88+ IWC; 91 Winetex; $55

A dark ruby in color, almost like a new world Pinot. Started out shy on the nose but opened up gradually over time with aromas of dark fruit and minerals. In the middle there was mostly dark fruits such as black cherry and blackberry with notes of coffee. The finish had drying tannins and a mineral edge along with a few florals and a touch of oak. Very complex and closed, not entirely charming at this point.

With 25 cases imported not too many people will be able to try this one. I was looking for Grand Cru Burgundy at a relatively lower price and happened to run across this one in a tasting. Clearly it is too young but I do want to check my Burgs at their five year mark.

13.3% alcohol; Decanted 45 minutes
