Yes, I agree that in my experience and in all vintages Pegau wines have a degree of brett. As do many Rhones wines.

I asked Laurence about this while tasting at Pegau and she felt that some of it is part of their wines and not a flaw. What I think happens is that when some bottles are mishandled in transportation and have a degree of heat exposure the brett grows out of control. I remember one lot of 1999s where more than one was undrinkable.

Personally I like a little horsey in my wines but when the fur comes off in your mouth it's probably a little over the top.

lol - agreed. I've rarely - if ever - encountered conditions of Brett that I couldn't handle - though on occasion I've thought it a bit much. Still - I think most would consider its presence as a flaw - if even one that is normally rather inocuous. Rhone wines have always been among my favorite - and the leathery slightly musty overtones are part of the flavor profile I enjoy. Pegau is certainly among my favorite wines...so perhaps this is part of the reason.
