LOL - I hear you. I also want to take my (due) credit for coining the word - to "DRAB" (its propper use is always all caps BTW! )
I was of the understanding that both 98 and 01 were more typical (backward) vintages for Beuacastel (and 2001 is for CDP in general...not so sure aboput 98...) - while 2000 was considered to be an unusually sweet and fat one for them (though don't know in general). With that knowledge (  ?) I DRABBED a few (375s) of the 2000 (as well a a 750 in a restaurant up in Maryland) and gotta admit - they were absolutly wonderful! Still I wasn't planning to DRAB any 98 or 01 anytime soon (at all) - but have considered DRABBING some of the 99s - which I am of the belief is a younger drinking vintage (in general) for CDP in general (but not sure about Bue - and think likley not - as 2000 was unusual I think). Man I love CDPs!
Anyway - leads me tho think that it would be fun to do a forum vintage chart for various regions...wonder if it might be doable...problem is that I'm not sure if we have tasted all the vintages (with sufficient representation of wines and such) per se as a Parker, Johson or other professional taster does...still it might prove interesting to see if we could form consensus for a region (like CDP for example) over the last decade or so of vintages...anyone have any insite or wish to comment (and is this sugestion perhaps worthy of being moved to its own thread?

| Poped another 375 tonight.
If this stuff is going to get better I don't know how.
The sweetness of the nose has leveled off a tad showing red meat, leather, and truffles.
Opaque garnet color.
Huge in the mouth. A quick expolosion of black rasberry followed by hints of leather, spice and sweet ripe plums.
Superbly balanced.
And a nice 30second finish of the rasberries.
This is one of those scarry wines that is way too easy to drink.
95 points.

| - 2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape - France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1/16/2006)
Had a restaurant vigorously double decant this for about 2hrs prior to dining, then consumed over 2 1/2 hours. Beautiful coloring, nice grape aromas and flavors. tobacco, crushed dry leaves. Silky smooth mouthfeel and a lingering, flavorful finish. Don't have many CDPs, but glad to have several of these. Very Enjoyable. (94 pts.)
